Younique Yoga Studio FAQ
New to hot yoga or curious about our studio? Get all your questions answered here! From what to bring and what to wear to studio temperatures and hydration tips, our comprehensive FAQ covers the most common inquiries to help you prepare for a comfortable and invigorating hot yoga experience.
I'm new to hot yoga! How early should I arrive for my first class?
We recommend arriving at least 15-20 minutes before your first class. This gives you ample time to check in, get acquainted with the studio, ask any last-minute questions, and find your spot without feeling rushed. For subsequent classes, 10 minutes early is usually sufficient.
What is the typical temperature in the studio?
Our studio is heated to maintain a temperature between 90-100°F. This heated environment helps to warm your muscles, increase flexibility, and promote detoxification through sweating.
Do I need to bring my own yoga mat?
Yes, bringing your own yoga mat is highly recommended. For hygiene and personal comfort, most students prefer to use their own. If you forget yours or don't own one yet, we do have mats available for rent at the studio.
Is it really necessary to bring water? How much should I drink?
Absolutely! Hydration is crucial for hot yoga. We strongly advise bringing a large water bottle (at least 20-30 oz) and drinking plenty of water before, during, and after class. Listen to your body and rehydrate frequently throughout your practice. We also have water for sale if you need it.
Why do I need to bring a towel? What kind of towel is best?
You will sweat a lot in hot yoga! A towel is essential to absorb perspiration and prevent slipping on your mat. A "yoga mat towel" or a large, absorbent beach-style towel specifically designed for hot yoga is ideal as it will cover most of your mat. Smaller hand towels are also useful for wiping your face.
What should I wear for hot yoga?
Wear lightweight, breathable, and moisture-wicking activewear that allows for a full range of motion. Think shorts, leggings, sports bras, and tank tops. Avoid heavy cotton clothing, as it will absorb sweat and become uncomfortable.
Should I eat before class?
It's best to avoid heavy meals 2-3 hours before class. A light snack, like a banana or a handful of nuts, about an hour before can be fine if you need a little energy boost. Listen to your body and what works best for you.
What if I feel lightheaded or overwhelmed during class?
It's common for new students to experience these sensations initially. If you feel lightheaded, dizzy, or overwhelmed, we encourage coming down to a child’s pose, or bring yourself down to Savasana (corpse pose) and rest. Don't hesitate to signal the instructor if you need assistance. It's important to listen to your body and take breaks as needed.
Are there showers available after class?
Yes, we have showers available for your convenience. Please bring your own towel and toiletries if you plan to use them.
What if I'm not flexible? Is hot yoga still for me?
Absolutely! Hot yoga is for everyone, regardless of your current flexibility level. The heat helps to increase your range of motion and make stretching more accessible. Consistency is key, and you'll be amazed at how quickly your flexibility improves with regular practice. Just come with an open mind and a willingness to explore!
